Frequently asked questions
FAQs
The first session is an assessment and an opportunity for us to get to know one another. We'll explore what has brought you to therapy, discuss your current difficulties and personal history, and think together about what you hope to gain from the process. It's also a chance for you to ask questions and decide whether working together feels like the right fit.
You don't need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Many people seek support because they're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, low in mood, or are finding certain patterns in their relationships or behaviour difficult to change. Therapy can also provide space for self-development, greater self-understanding, and personal growth.
I work with adults experiencing a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, trauma, complex PTSD, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, identity and belonging, neurodiversity, and addictive behaviours. If you're unsure whether therapy can help with your particular concerns, you're welcome to get in touch to discuss them.
There is no fixed number of sessions. Some people find short-term therapy helpful for a specific issue, while others choose longer-term psychotherapy to explore deeper patterns and achieve lasting change. During our work together, we'll regularly review your progress and discuss what feels most beneficial.
Confidentiality is a fundamental part of therapy. What you discuss in our sessions remains private, with a small number of legal and ethical exceptions relating to serious concerns about your safety or the safety of others. These limits will be explained fully during our first meeting.
Yes. I offer secure online therapy to clients throughout the UK using an encrypted video platform. Online therapy offers flexibility for those balancing work, family commitments, or travel, and research shows it can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy for many psychological difficulties.
For many people, yes. Studies consistently show that online therapy can be highly effective for concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, and relationship difficulties. The most important factor in successful therapy is the quality of the therapeutic relationship rather than the format in which sessions take place.
I offer an integrative approach to psychotherapy. This means I draw on different evidence-informed therapeutic approaches while tailoring the work to your individual needs, experiences, and goals. Therapy is always collaborative, recognising that every person's story is unique.
Rather than offering advice, therapy helps you develop a deeper understanding of yourself, your relationships, and the patterns influencing your life. My role is to support, challenge, and guide you in making choices that feel authentic and meaningful for you.
Many people begin therapy feeling uncertain about what they want to say. That's completely normal. You don't need to have everything worked out before your first session. We'll begin wherever feels most comfortable and allow the conversation to develop naturally.
Yes. Addictive behaviours often develop as ways of coping with emotional pain, stress, trauma, or difficult life experiences. Therapy offers a compassionate and non-judgemental space to understand what lies beneath these patterns, reduce shame, and support healthier ways of coping.
Getting started is simple. You can contact me by email or through the enquiry form on my website to arrange an initial free of charge intro call. From there, we'll discuss what has brought you to therapy, answer any questions you may have, and decide together on the next steps.
I have a 48-hours cancellation policy. This means I will not charge you for a cancelled session or a scheduled holiday, if you let me know with 48-hours’ notice. We can then discuss an alternative time slot.
